Get The Best Rc Cars And Rc Model Aircraft
Radio Control is a fantastic, fun hobby. I first became an RC addict at the age or 10 when a kind uncle bought me a rc model aircraft for my birthday. It was a scale model of a First World War biplane with a little engine that ran on what I think was methylated spirit. Today rc cars and aircraft are much more sophisticated, but still great fun and very educational.
I’m lucky enough to own several RC cars and couple of top quality model aircraft. I have dabbled with RC boats but my favourites are aircraft and cars.
If you are new to the world of radio control, or if you are thinking of getting into it, there are a few things to think about before you part with your hard earned cash. Radio control cars tend to fall into two categories: those that are powered by an electric motor and those powered by a little engine that uses a Nitro Methanol fuel mix.
Like many RC car enthusiasts my favoured RC cars are those powered by Nitro fuelled little engines. The hobby, for me, is not just about racing around a track. Like formula one racing, it’s all about the cars, the engineering, the tuning and tweaking to get the best from your model.
Getting into RC cars at an early age can be very educational. For me it led to a career in Electronics as I had to build and repair my own radio control systems in order to save cash. If you are looking for an educational gift for a child that is great fun but doesn’t look like an educational toy I strongly suggest you consider an electric radio control car.
I always recommend that people start with an electric car. Firstly because of the price. Electric-powered radio control cars are much cheaper than their Nitro powered equivalents. Secondly because of their simplicity. Electric cars are technically simpler than their Nitro counterparts so there is less to go wrong. You will find that there is a truly fantastic selection of electric cars to choose from including some great off-road vehicles and monster trucks.
There is a fantastic variety of model aircraft to choose from. From micro-sized palm launched models that are great fun in the office to large wing-span scale models of classics including the Spitfire and Focke Wulf.
Like the modern-day radio control cars the sky is the limit when it comes to pricing for rc model aircraft. If you are just starting out or if you are buying a gift for a child I’d recommend choosing a model with simple controls and quick electrical recharge times. A model like this will not cost a fortune but it will provide plenty of fun and excitement and may even give someone a new, lieflong hobby.
Radio control is a great hobby that I think can be enjoyed by anybody at any level, and it doesn’t have to cost the earth.
